Cookies

Cookies.... yum
I found this recipe for fruity rice cereal cookies.
It was on the side of the box of cereal I used to make those
fruity rice cereal marshmallow treats from a few posts ago.
I thought they would make a nice end of summer cookie.

One last goodbye to all those lovely colors of summer...........

The recipe is from is from a box of Confruity Crisp Sunny Select
cereal.

Kaleidoscope Cookies

1/2 cup butter or margarine softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups Sunny Select Confruity Crisp brand cereal

Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
Lightly grease cookie sheet.
Beat butter and sugar until smooth.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat until creamy.
Combine flour and baking powder.
Add to butter mixture; mix well.
Stir in cereal.
Drop by level tablespoon, 2 inches apart,
onto prepared cookie sheet.
Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until lightly browned on bottom.
Let stand 1 minute before removing to racks to cool.
Makes 3 dozen

They were very pretty....... but needed a little something extra.

So, I glazed them.
I just used some milk and powdered sugar.
I don't really have a recipe for the glaze.
I just mix the ingredients together until they are a consistence
that will stick to the cookie and not run too much. Sort of like a
runny yogurt. After glazing I sprinkled some dried cereal on
top of the wet glaze.

I think they were much prettier and if I'm being honest taster too.

Well fair well summer colors and flavors.
Hello spicy fall tones and pumpkin recipes.

School = Cool

My oldest started back to pre-school yesterday.

The excited nerviness is summed up in the
goofy smile.....

BUT...........

they have tools... so everything will be just
fine.......  ;)

He loves school supplies just like his mom.
For me it's knowing the learning and creativity
they bring.  oh..... butterflies......
For him it's the "building" anything used to
create with is a tool to him. WE don't make
projects or cook dinner around hear. WE
build projects and build a dinner and we
always need our tools.

So, I had to indulge him and his brothie too with some
new school tools.

Don't ya just love the mini clip boards.........

With all these new school supplies (I mean tools) a project needed to be built.

We built an apple tree. A bottle of glue
lost it's life in the creation of this tree.
NOT. KIDDING.

glueing.....

more glueing......

still.....

yes... and more glueing.

Glue on top of glue.

It was worth it... look at the tree ;)
Note to self..... by glue in Costco size proportions.

Girly-Girl Clubhouse To Fab Firehouse

My boys love playing in those little plastic playhouses.
But, they are expensive, for plastic...$300.00 for p.l.a.s.t.i.c.
Plastic....... can't do it. Besides they already have a play structure
with a clubhouse attachment.

My oldest, so therefore my youngest too... are going threw a BIG
firefighter phase. They (meaning my oldest) wants a fire station
clubhouse. That whole 300.... plastic thing again. NO

So when my friend found this down the street with a FREE sign on it.
We were all over it......

Good by girls clubhouse with kitchen....

Hello fire station.....

We have a bunch fireish thing-a-mi-doodles to add............
like pole to side down, gears and gages, and running water

but, they are just so excited I had to share.

Here is the construction crew on paint day.
We used rust-oleum plastic paint. WOW
Results were better than I expected!!!
I recommend sanding. We didn't, short on time
the whole kid thing..... ;)

The supervisor............

My little guy loves the windows and door........

peek-a-boo

Love making them smile....

best. thing. ever.

For my oldest it's all about the box of "equipment."

This kid LOVES tools and I LOVE
spending 50 bucks instead 0f 300....

Margarita Night

In my hood when the weather is warm we
get together for margarita night. This little tradition
was formed when we neighbors kept gabbing
in the middle of the street for hours on end.
People would get thirsty. Kids needed to be fed,
dinner time would come and go and we would all
still be out in the middle of the street talking away.
Sooo, some one suggested "margarita wednesday."
Trash night, when the most people were out and the
chances of an impromptu gab feast would take place.
Wednesday........ lets just say the nights got a little
late so now we have "margarita friday." We have
come a long way from a folding card table, bowl of
chips and salsa, and a picture of margaritas.

Now we play bocce ball....   and

croquet of course......

AND e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e  brings the best food.

Most of our margarita nights are spur of the moment.
So, I usually bring a mix of store bought stuff but,
I try to make it a little special.......

Store bought chicken nuggets.
(have to have those for the kiddies......)
BUT, the sweet and sour dipping sauce, hint
50/50 mix of bbq sauce and...... apricot jelly.
Heat in a pot till combined and reduced a bit,
that's it. YUM....

NO, bake marshmallow oreo treats...

Process oreos in food processor till they look like this.

Yum... you'll need about 5 cups and

6 cups of melted marshmallows....just like rice cereal treats!!!!
fast. fast. fast. and easy.

But, not everyone likes chocolate. I know sick huh.....

So, out comes the fruity cereal.....

Which to choose.....

I made these thin and used a 1-1/4" cookie cutter. Kinda cute
and tasty too. If I do say so myself.

Messy Studio Tour

I have a studio...... a little slice of heaven right in my back yard.

My hubby built it for me.........;)
ALL the materials were rescued from dumpsters.
The roof is 200 year old slate. Rescued from the
dumpster of a church he was renovating.
The siding came from our neighbors addition, the
doors and window, old french doors from another project.
That's him with our oldest in the photo above.
Putting in a little brick patio with left over bricks from
yet another project....

So, lets move on to the inside....I warn you it. is. messy.

Agghhhh, I know....right...... I do not like messy messes......
I'm hoping giving this little peek into my studio, in this unruly
state will help motivate me into cleaning and sorting so I can
redeem my self in another blog post "the clean studio tour."...... maybe...

Part of my ribbon stash.

Behind that kitchen organizer.....
Look for the clue. Yep, you guessed it
more ribbon.

Love, love, love, vintage buttons. Love seeing them organized
by color in mason jars. The jars help keep them organized
beautifully... and with a play house packed like mine I need
all the help I can get.

Vintage shelving from and old garage, love
the green and gray paint on theses....
Yes, they were rescued too.
They hold a ton of reference books and my
millinery flowers.

My desk, yes a mess too. Full of past, present, and
future projects.

I scored this wooden angel at Room With A Past
she is a little girly for my house. So, she resides in
the studio. That's one of the best things about having
a place all your own to create in. You can make it look
however you want even if...... it. is. a. mess.
