Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies or Chocolate Chip Cherry Cookies

Pink chocolate chip cookies with cherries. These are perfect for
Valentine's Day. They are festive and delicious.

Cherry and chocolate are such a classic flavor
combination for Valentine's Day, and who
doesn't love chocolate chip cookies????
So, how can you go wrong with these?

The star ingredients, semisweet chocolate chips
and a combination of sweet and tart cherries.

You can certainly just use one variety of cherries but, I liked the
burst of sweetness and the zing of tartness from the two different
kinds of cherries. Next time I make these I think the use of dark
chocolate will be in order too.  ;)

I'm always in search of a new chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Life is to short to be repetitive.....! BUT, I think I will stop my
search here. As the recipe is titled "Best Chocolate Chip Cookie"
I think THESE ARE THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!
E-V-E-R!!! I found the recipe on Allrecipes.com.
My only addition was the cherries and pink food coloring.
The cookies are soft, chewy, and crispy all at the same time.
Great texture!

Cream together
1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar

Beat in 2 eggs one at a time.
Then add 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

Dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 2 teaspoons hot water
and add to batter with 1/2 teaspoon salt. At this point I added
a little red jell food coloring.
Stir in 3 cups all purpose flour until just combined.

Next I added 1-1/2 cup dried cherries. To help keep the cherries
from sticking to each other toss them in a little flour.
Add 2 cup semisweet chocolate chips and mix until combined.

Perfectly pink chocolate cherry cookie dough. Yummmm!

Preheat oven to 350. I use a cookie scoop to portion out the dough.
My particular scoop, scoops a little over a table spoon of dough.
Place dough 2 inches apart on the cookie sheet.

Bake between 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are golden.
Since the dough is pink it is kind of hard to see the golden edges.
So, take a peek at the bottom of the cookie.

These are a nice alternative the the "traditional" Valentine's
sugar cookie.

Look at all that chocolate cherry goodness!

Love the pink color.....!

These are definitely going to be my new "traditional" any time cookie.
